Manipur Police Detain 15 Suspected Drug Peddlers and Users in Anti-Trafficking Operation

Imphal: Intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking in Manipur, state police detained 15 suspected drug peddlers and users on January 22 during an operation in the North AOC area.

The detained individuals included 8 females and 7 males.

The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, did not yield any contraband items.

However, after thorough investigation and verification, the detainees were sent to rehabilitation centers for treatment, highlighting the authorities’ focus on rehabilitation alongside enforcement.

Meanwhile, security forces continued their regular search operations and area domination exercises across vulnerable hill and valley districts

Efforts were intensified to ensure the safe movement of essential goods along the state’s key lifelines, National Highways 2 and 37. On January 22 alone, 304 vehicles on NH-2 and 233 on NH-37 were provided secure passage under convoy protection.

To bolster safety, 108 checkpoints were set up across the state in both hill and valley regions.

Authorities reported no additional detentions during these security operations, emphasizing the proactive measures being taken to curb criminal activities and ensure public safety.

With strict security measures in place, the state continues to focus on maintaining law and order while addressing the challenges posed by drug trafficking.
