
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Meets Japan’s State Minister to Bolster Bilateral Ties
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Japan’s State Minister of Justice, Komura Masahiro, during his visit to Japan, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and fostering economic collaboration.
The meeting emphasized shared values and cultural ties, highlighting the spiritual connection through the ideals of Buddha, which form a unique bond between the two nations.
In a statement shared on his microblogging platform, CM Sarma expressed his gratitude for the insightful discussion. “It was a privilege to meet H.E. Mr. Komura Masahiro, Japan’s State Minister of Justice. We had an insightful conversation on the shared values and ethos that tie India and Japan, and particularly how ideals of Buddha form a spiritual bridge between our two societies,” he wrote.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarma unveiled Assam’s ambitious plan to establish an industrial park tailored for Japanese companies. The initiative is aimed at fostering economic growth while providing a favorable environment for international businesses to thrive in Assam.
Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the potential of Assam’s youth in addressing Japan’s growing need for a skilled workforce. “We also spoke at length about how talented youths from Assam can help bridge the demand for skilled workforce in Japan, through ongoing programs between our countries,” Sarma remarked.
The meeting underscored Assam’s strategic efforts to position itself as a hub for international trade and investment, while also strengthening cultural and economic ties with Japan. The proposed industrial park is expected to pave the way for increased collaboration and development in the region.
