CPI(M) in Tripura Revamps Leadership with Fresh Faces Ahead of State Conference
Agartala: The opposition CPI(M) in Tripura has introduced significant leadership changes, appointing fresh faces to at least 25% of key roles across its organizational structure.
This move is part of an ongoing effort to rejuvenate the party and prepare it for future challenges, CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury announced during a press conference.
Chaudhury revealed that 25.68% of branch secretaries, 33.80% of local committee secretaries, and two-thirds of sub-division committee secretaries are new appointees. Additionally, six of the eight district committee secretaries have also been replaced.
“The initiative, launched in 2015, aims to infuse fresh energy into the organization to address future challenges effectively,” Chaudhury stated.
The CPI(M) recently concluded organizational elections at the branch, local, subdivision, and district committee levels, a process conducted every three years.
A total of 38,843 party members participated in these elections, and 411 delegates are set to attend the upcoming state conference starting January 29.
The conference will feature a rally addressed by senior CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat. While the party initially planned to hold a mega rally at Swami Vivekananda Ground, the state government denied permission, leading to the event being relocated to the Umakanta Academy Ground. Closed-door sessions for the 24th state committee conference will be held at the Town Hall.
Chaudhury criticized the government’s decision to refuse permission for the rally at the original venue but emphasized the party’s determination to proceed with its plans, highlighting the importance of the conference in shaping the party’s direction in Tripura.
