Meghalaya: Laitkor SC Dominates Nongthymmai SC with a 4-0 Victory in OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024

Shillong: Laitkor SC bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a commanding 4-0 win over Nongthymmai SC in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 on January 23 at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, Meghalaya.

The match saw Laitkor take control early on with Rikmenlang Nongrum scoring in the 3rd minute. Risuk Malngiang (24’) and Sandy Kharkongor (37’) added to the lead in the first half, while Fridison Wanniang (62’) sealed the victory with a header in the second half.

• 3rd Minute: Rikmenlang Nongrum opened the scoring for Laitkor.
• 24th Minute: Risuk Malngiang’s free-kick struck the bar and bounced over the line, leading to an injury to Nongthymmai goalkeeper Banshngainlang Masynting.
• 37th Minute: Sandy Kharkongor added a third after a race to a long ball.
• 62nd Minute: Fridison Wanniang’s header sealed the win.

The result lifted Laitkor to 13 points, placing them in 6th position in the standings, while Nongthymmai, with just 7 points and having conceded 20 goals in their last five matches, remains in the relegation zone.

Despite creating chances, Nongthymmai failed to capitalize, leaving them disappointed. The next set of matches sees Shillong Lajong take on Sawmer SC at 11 am, followed by Mawlai SC facing Ryntih FC at 2:30 pm today.
