Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik (Retd.) recently hosted an engaging interaction session with village elders, ex-servicemen, and farmers at the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.
The session was part of the first spiritual tour organized by the 18 Sikh Light Infantry of the Army, aimed at fostering closer ties between the armed forces and the local community.
The event saw the participation of twenty-two elderly villagers from the border districts of Tawang and West Kameng, who are currently on the tour, which began on January 10.
The villagers have already visited key locations such as Delhi, Dharamsala, and Gaya, and are now in Itanagar before returning to their respective villages.
Governor Parnaik lauded the Army for organizing the tour, emphasizing that such initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening the bond between the military and the locals.
During his address, Parnaik encouraged the village elders to share the positive experiences from their trip with other members of their community.
He highlighted the important role they play in promoting education, improving hygiene, and particularly focusing on waste disposal practices within their villages.
The Governor also urged the elders to embrace new responsibilities in safeguarding the environment, underscoring the need for conservation and protection of natural resources to ensure a secure and sustainable future for upcoming generations.
The spiritual tour, which is part of Operation Sadbhavana, serves as a meaningful engagement between the armed forces and local communities, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
