Meghalaya: IIM Shillong and NE-CCIE Collaborate on Successful Winter Workshop for Students

Shillong: The ‘Winter Workshop,’ jointly organized by NE-CCIE, a development center led by Dr. Teidorlang Lyngdoh, and Nurturing Minds, a student group from IIM Shillong, concluded on January 24.

Held from January 20 to 24, the workshop took place at Mawkasiang Umroh Presbyterian School and Quidotto Memorial SSA RCLP School, both adopted by IIM Shillong in 2024.

The five-day event provided an inspiring platform for students to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and essential life skills. It began with an Orientation and Art & Craft Day, featuring activities like math and vocabulary games, creative crafts, and an art contest on themes such as “Environment Conservation” and “Social Media Dangers.”

On the second day, students explored ‘Science and Safety Awareness’ through hands-on experiments, lessons on basic scientific principles, and sessions on first aid, disaster management, CPR basics, and fire safety drills.

The third day emphasized mathematics and personal safety awareness, featuring a math relay race designed to boost problem-solving skills.

This marked the start of the ‘Maths Campaign,’ an initiative aimed at fostering a love for mathematics and problem-solving across Meghalaya, inspiring a culture of mathematical excellence.

Day four highlighted physical fitness and wellness through sports, yoga, sack races, and an energetic dance session, promoting fun and health-conscious habits.

The workshop concluded on the fifth day with a grand finale at the IIM Shillong campus, where students showcased their talents through cultural performances and a talent show, celebrating their creativity and achievements.

This initiative underscores IIM Shillong’s commitment to holistic education, blending academics, arts, and life skills.

Through NE-CCIE and Nurturing Minds, the program aims to empower young learners, inspire future changemakers, and promote mathematical proficiency as a cornerstone of Meghalaya’s educational landscape.
