Mizoram Governor Meets Central YMA Leaders to Discuss Key Issues
Aizawl: The office bearers of Mizoram’s Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) on January 27, led by their President, met with Governor Gen. (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh at Raj Bhavan.
During the interaction, the Governor emphasized the importance of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) in Mizo society and encouraged CYMA officials to continue their efforts in improving both Mizoram and its society.
The CYMA leaders requested the Governor’s support in addressing issues related to the NGO Darpan Portal and sought his endorsement for a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the inclusion of the Mizo language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Additionally, the meeting covered the issue of poor road connectivity between Mizoram and other states.
The Governor assured that he would take steps to improve road infrastructure during his tenure in Mizoram.
The Governor also commended the YMA’s role in the fight against drugs and praised their cooperation with the government in addressing social issues.
The CYMA leaders briefed Gen. VK Singh on the functions of the state’s largest NGO and presented him with a traditional Khumbeu (straw hat) and Ipte chei (sling bag made from woven cloth).
The Governor expressed interest in visiting the Central YMA office at an opportune time to further engage with the organization’s activities.
