Guwahati: The body of Ajay Singh, a resident of Rangalu, Jakhalabandha, was recovered on January 27 from the Kolong River after he went missing on Republic Day.
Singh had been involved in a tragic accident on January 26, when his motorbike fell into the river at a fractured section of the Hatimura embankment in Kaliabor, Nagaon.
Singh was riding his bike, registered as AS02A R 4969, on his way to Jakhalabandha when the vehicle plunged into the river.
Local residents found the bike submerged, but it remains unclear how many people were riding at the time of the accident. The Jakhalabandha police later recovered the vehicle from the river.
Reports suggest that although a temporary dyke had been installed near the damaged section of the embankment, the exposed area played a significant role in the accident.
