All-Party Meeting Scheduled Ahead of Union Budget, Says Kiren Rijiju

National: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that an all-party meeting will be held on January 30, ahead of the Union Budget session set to commence on January 31.

Speaking during his visit to Prayagraj, Rijiju urged opposition leaders to cooperate in ensuring smooth and productive discussions during the upcoming parliamentary session.

Rijiju expressed hope for a constructive approach in Parliament, recalling disruptions during the previous winter session. “In the last two sessions, there was some ‘hungama’ in Parliament, which created a poor image of our democratic institution. I appeal to Opposition leaders and MPs to actively participate in discussions and allow the Parliament to function smoothly during the session,” he said in a statement to ANI.

The Budget session will begin on January 31 with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget on February 1.

Rijiju expressed optimism about the upcoming Budget, stating, “Everyone is hopeful that it will be a good and balanced Budget.”

The session, which will conclude on April 4, includes an inter-session break from February 14 to March 10, allowing parliamentary committees to review and deliberate on the budgetary allocations.

Rijiju’s appeal underscores the importance of bipartisan cooperation to facilitate meaningful dialogue on the nation’s economic and legislative priorities during the Budget session.
