Sikkim BJP Executive Member Pooja Sharma Attends Workshop on ‘One Nation, One Election’

Gangtok: Pooja Sharma, Executive Member of the Sikkim Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), represented the state at a key workshop on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ campaign, held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Monday.

The workshop was chaired by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and saw the participation of prominent BJP leaders, including national general secretary Sunil Bansal, as well as convenors and co-convenors from 28 states and 8 union territories.

The focus of the workshop was to deliberate on the proposed electoral reform aimed at synchronizing elections across the country.

The ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 17, seeks to conduct simultaneous elections for both the Lok Sabha and State legislative assemblies in all 28 states and 8 union territories.

Proponents of the reform believe that such a move would reduce election-related costs, streamline election schedules, and improve the overall governance efficiency in the country.

Pooja Sharma expressed her thoughts on the workshop, calling it an essential platform for discussing transformative ideas to strengthen India’s democracy. “It was a privilege to be part of this historic initiative, discussing transformative ideas to strengthen our democracy and unify the electoral process,” she said.
