Assam: Woman Injured in Bag Snatching Incident Near Banaphul Nagar

Guwahati: A woman was severely injured in a shocking bag-snatching incident that occurred near Banaphul Nagar at around 8:30 p.m. on the evening of January 28.

The victim, identified as Riju Sharma, had just withdrawn money from an ATM when thieves attacked her and stole her bag containing valuable items.

The stolen bag contained Rs 10,000 in cash, a mobile phone, medicines, ATM cards, and other personal belongings.

Eyewitnesses reported that the miscreants struck swiftly, yanking the bag from Sharma’s hands.

In the ensuing struggle, Riju was knocked to the ground and left lying in the middle of the road, suffering serious injuries, particularly to her hand.

Riju Sharma was quickly rushed to Pratiksha Hospital, where she was admitted overnight for treatment. Medical staff confirmed that she will require surgery for the injuries sustained in the attack.

The local police have launched an investigation into the incident, and authorities are urging residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.

As of now, the thieves remain unidentified, and law enforcement is actively pursuing leads to apprehend the culprits.
