Mizoram to Implement Hand Holding Scheme for Construction Workers

Aizawl: Mizoram’s Minister of Labor, Employment, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Lalnghinglova Hmar, has announced that the state’s flagship Hand Holding Scheme will be implemented through the Mizoram Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB).

This decision was made during a meeting held with the Union Labour Minister and other Labour Ministers of States and Union Territories in New Delhi on January 29 and 30.

Minister Hmar emphasized the unique challenges faced by states like Mizoram with smaller populations.

He argued that such states cannot effectively compete with larger states in terms of labor strength and that funding allocations should consider this disparity.

He also urged the Union Labour Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, to allow the use of funds under the MBOCWWB according to the specific needs and priorities of Mizoram.

Minister Hmar informed the meeting that the MBOCWWB had recently resolved to implement the Hand Holding Scheme to improve the livelihoods of construction workers in the state.
