Assam CM to Inaugurate Jagi Bhakatgaon Bridge, Paving Way for Economic Growth
Morigaon, Assam – Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to inaugurate the newly reconstructed Jagi Bhakatgaon bridge on February 1, a key infrastructure project linking Morigaon and Jagiroad.
The 1.24-kilometre bridge, built at a cost of ₹80.25 crore, promises to enhance connectivity and drive economic growth in the region.
Taking to social media, Sarma shared a video of the bridge, emphasizing the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
He noted that the bridge had remained in a deteriorated condition for decades before the administration prioritized its restoration as part of a broader vision to develop a futuristic Electronic City in Jagiroad.
“Our dreams of building a futuristic Electronic City in Jagiroad start with strengthening the fundamental building blocks. For decades, the Jagi Bhakatgaon bridge connecting Morigaon and Jagiroad was in a dismal shape, until we decided to take it up. The bridge opens tomorrow,” Sarma posted on X.
The completion of the bridge is expected to ease transportation challenges, boost trade, and improve accessibility for residents, marking a significant step in Assam’s infrastructure expansion.
Meanwhile, Sarma celebrated his 56th birthday at his residence in Guwahati, where supporters and well-wishers gathered to extend their greetings.
Admirers presented gifts, including a portrait, a Ganesh idol, flower bouquets, and plants. Expressing gratitude, the Chief Minister acknowledged their heartfelt wishes, stating, “Everyone came to give me their best wishes.”
With the inauguration of the Jagi Bhakatgaon bridge, Assam moves closer to realizing its vision for enhanced connectivity and economic progress.
