Meghalaya CM Applauds Union FM’s Modified UDAN Scheme for Boosting Regional Connectivity

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed his gratitude to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the announcement of the modified UDAN Scheme, which is set to enhance regional connectivity in the Northeast and other aspirational and hilly districts.

The updated scheme aims to improve air travel accessibility by developing helipads and smaller airports in these underserved areas.

In a statement on his official X handle, CM Sangma lauded the initiative, highlighting its potential to promote economic growth and strengthen connectivity in the region.

He emphasized that the scheme would not only increase passenger capacity by 4 crore over the next 10 years but also create new opportunities for regional development.

The focus of the modified UDAN scheme will be on improving air links to hilly, aspirational, and northeastern regions, with a particular emphasis on bolstering infrastructure for helipads and smaller airports.
