Tripura BSF IG Reviews Security Operations, Engages with Border Communities

Agartala: Ashwani Kumar Sharma, the Inspector General (IG) of the Tripura Border Security Force (BSF) on February 1 visited a medical camp organised by the 43 Battalion BSF at Durgapur High School, Rajnagar. The camp was part of the Civic Action Programme, aimed at serving the border population.

During his visit, IG Sharma participated in a village coordination meeting at Belonia, where he engaged with the local community and addressed their concerns.

He also conducted site visits at Border Out Posts (BOPs) in Nathpara, Sarasima, Rajnagar, and I C Nagar, reviewing the security situation and operational preparedness. The IG further interacted with field commanders to assess and improve the operational readiness of the BSF in the region.

Earlier in the day, the Tripura BSF, in collaboration with state police, successfully thwarted a significant border smuggling attempt.

Acting on specific intelligence, they seized contraband items worth Rs 1,14,01,174 near Vill-Karamtila, South Tripura. The haul included cigarettes, cosmetics, and other smuggled goods.

In addition, the BSF personnel carried out further operations along the Indo-Bangladesh Border, foiling multiple trans-border smuggling attempts.

In these operations, they seized Ganja and other contraband items, valued at Rs 5,17,900. The ongoing vigilance of the Tripura BSF continues to strengthen border security and curb illegal activities in the region.
