Meghalaya’s Gracey Nandy Clinches Historic Triple-Crown Victory at Mega Miss North East 2024
Shillong: Meghalaya’s rising pageant star, Gracey Nandy, has made history by winning the coveted title at the 21st Mega Miss North East, alongside Pheiroijam Christina Devi from Manipur and Chayanika Handique from Karbi Anglong, Assam.
In an unprecedented decision, the pageant crowned three winners for the first time, marking a bold departure from the traditional single-winner format.
The historic win at the ITA Cultural Complex in Guwahati builds on Nandy’s emotional triumph at Miss Shillong 2024, where she had already earned admiration for her performance.
Reflecting on her previous achievement, she recalled the powerful moment of seeing her parents filled with pride and emotion. “It was a surreal moment,” Nandy had shared with India Today NE after claiming the Miss Shillong title and the Rs 1 lakh prize.
Nandy’s rapid rise in the pageant world is even more remarkable given that she followed in the footsteps of her elder sister, who also had a successful career in beauty pageants.
Within just five years, Gracey Nandy has transformed from a spectator to a crowned pageant queen, a testament to her dedication and hard work.
As a student at St Edmund’s College, Nandy has often cited the strong competition in the Northeast pageant circuit as a driving force that motivates her to push herself further.
The three winners, who now share the prestigious title, will represent Northeast India at various events, showcasing the beauty and talent of the region.
Their prize package, worth over Rs 50,000, includes travel opportunities and professional representation by Mega Entertainment, which will support their journey forward in the fashion and beauty industry.
Abhijeet Singha, the fashion entrepreneur behind the pageant, emphasized that the event is not just a regional competition but a platform designed to launch the winners onto the global stage.
Supported by the Ministry of Tourism under the Incredible India initiative, the pageant also showcased the region’s cultural heritage with its theme, “Hidden Paradises of Northeast India.”
