Kohima: The newly rehabilitated Road Over Bridge (ROB) near Hotel Tragopan on National Highway-29 in Dimapur, Nagaland, will officially open to all vehicular traffic starting February 2. This long-awaited development aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the area and improve the flow of vehicles.
In preparation for the opening, Dimapur’s Commissioner of Police, Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, has announced a set of traffic regulations designed to ensure safe and efficient movement of traffic. The new rules are as follows:
- One-Way Traffic: The routes from Deluxe Point to Holy Cross Police Point and from Khermahal to Deluxe Point will continue to operate as one-way traffic.
- Restrictions on Commercial Vehicles: Commercial vehicles including auto-rickshaws, auto pickups, and Tata Mobiles will be restricted from using the New Flyover from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM to reduce congestion.
- Heavy Vehicles: Heavy vehicles coming from the New Field Inter-State check gate will only be allowed to enter the area between 7:00 PM and 9:00 AM.
- Relaxation of Previous Traffic Regulations: Other one-way and traffic regulations imposed during the ROB rehabilitation process will be relaxed, adhering to previous rules, to accommodate the smoother flow of vehicles.
These traffic regulations will come into effect starting at 7 AM on February 2, with authorities indicating that adjustments may be made depending on traffic conditions and feasibility.
Dimapur authorities are urging the public to adhere to the newly implemented guidelines to facilitate a smooth transition and minimize traffic issues in the area.
