Himanta Biswa Sarma Slams Arvind Kejriwal Over Yamuna Pollution Remarks

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during an election rally in the Babarpur Assembly constituency.

Sarma criticized Kejriwal’s recent remarks, in which he alleged that the people of Haryana had polluted the Yamuna River.

Questioning Kejriwal’s logic, Sarma remarked, “Kejriwal mentioned that the people of Haryana poisoned the Yamuna River. But let me ask, can a brother poison the water to harm his younger brother and his family? People of Delhi, Haryana, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh share deep familial bonds. Can an elder brother commit such a heinous act? Kejriwal clearly does not understand the essence of Hindutva.”

Emphasizing the principles of Hindu culture, Sarma further stated, “One of the core tenets of Hindutva is hospitality and goodwill.

In our tradition, offering water to others is considered an act of virtue. The people of Delhi are Hindus, and no Hindu would ever even dream of poisoning water to harm others.”

Sarma’s remarks come amidst rising political tensions in the national capital ahead of upcoming elections, with BJP leaders targeting Kejriwal’s governance and environmental policies.

The debate over the Yamuna’s pollution has become a flashpoint in the election campaign, with both parties trading accusations over the river’s deteriorating condition.
