STF Assam Nabs Key Operative in Major Crackdown on Terror Network
Guwahati: In a significant breakthrough under Operation PRAGHAT, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam has dealt a major blow to anti-national elements with the arrest of a key operative linked to fundamentalist networks and global terrorist organizations.
Acting on precise intelligence, STF Assam, in coordination with Kokrajhar Police, launched a swift operation in the early hours of February 3, apprehending Nasim Uddin SK from Kokrajhar district.
Authorities identified the arrested individual as an active member of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JAM).
He was reportedly a close associate of prime accused Nur Islam Mandal, who had been previously arrested for extremist activities.
Since December 17, 2024, Nasim Uddin SK had been evading law enforcement, attempting to escape justice.
Investigations revealed his involvement as a key conspirator, working closely with Mandal in procuring weapons and manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) aimed at empowering extremist factions.
Their objective was to destabilize national security, disrupt peace, and pose a grave threat to India’s sovereignty.
The arrest marks another critical step in dismantling radical networks seeking to jeopardize national integrity.
The accused has been charged under multiple stringent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A], the Passport Act, the Explosive Act, the Arms Act, and the Foreigners Act.
Following his production before the court, he has been remanded to police custody for seven days as STF and other agencies continue investigating the extent of the terror network, which reportedly has deep-rooted international connections.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating extremist threats and ensuring national security remains uncompromised.
