Nagaland’s DoSE Rolls Out SMILE App for Government Schools, Addresses Implementation Queries

Kohima: Nagaland’s Department of School Education (DoSE) has officially launched the SMILE App across all government schools and establishments under its jurisdiction from February 1.

The app, introduced under the Nagaland Education Project—The Lighthouse (NECTAR), aims to enhance school management and system efficiency through advanced digital solutions.

Following the announcement, DoSE has received multiple queries regarding the app’s functionality and has assured users that all concerns are being actively addressed.

The department has also confirmed that the SMILE App has been updated since its pilot phase in May 2024 and urged all users to install the latest version.

To ensure a smooth transition, DoSE has outlined key steps for employees:

  • Uninstall any previous versions of the SMILE App.
  • Download the latest version from the Google Play Store (for Android users) or the Apple App Store (for iOS users).
  • In case of network issues while marking attendance, users are advised to switch to offline mode and sync their attendance once a stable connection is available.
  • For technical assistance, users can contact the helpline at 6909644519, 8974102488, or 6900222184.

The SMILE App incorporates facial recognition, timestamping, and geofencing technologies, streamlining attendance marking, leave applications, and approval tracking. DoSE remains committed to ensuring the seamless implementation of this digital initiative to improve educational administration across Nagaland.
