Imphal: The National People’s Party (NPP) has appointed Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan as the leader of its legislative party in the Manipur Assembly. This decision follows the recent passing of MLA Kayisii, the previous leader of the NPP legislative party in the state.
In a statement, NPP President Conrad K. Sangma conveyed the party’s choice of Hassan as the new leader, emphasizing the need for continuity after the untimely demise of Kayisii. Additionally, the party’s interim state president Y. Joykumar Singh appointed Hassan as the working president of NPP Manipur until further notice.
This leadership change comes after the NPP, with seven MLAs, withdrew its support from the N Biren Singh-led government in Manipur last year.
