Assam CM Praises Transformation of Former Rebels into Agripreneurs in Majuli

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has applauded the inspiring transformation of 31 former rebels from Majuli’s Kargil Chapori, who have left behind armed struggle to embrace agriculture.

In a tweet, CM Sarma referred to them as “rebels turned agripreneurs,” recognizing their efforts in cultivating 208 bighas of land. Their journey serves as a significant example for the youth, demonstrating the power of change and self-reliance.

The ex-militants shared their story, acknowledging the years spent in the wilderness pursuing Assam’s independence through armed struggle. However, one of them expressed, “We realized that true independence can only come through an agricultural revolution.”

Emphasizing the future role of agriculture, another agripreneur stated, “Inspired by the spiritual teachings of Shankar-Madhav, we embraced farming to ensure our people’s survival.”

This transformation symbolizes a powerful shift from conflict to contribution, underscoring the vital role agriculture plays in Assam’s future and the potential for positive change in the region.
