Arunachal Governor Releases Poetry Book Celebrating Birds and Nature

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen. KT Parnaik (Retd) unveiled a poetry book titled “Birds are Poems: 100 Narrative Poems” at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, on February 6.

The book, penned by Prof. Tomo Riba, Vice-Chancellor of Arunachal Pradesh University (APU), is a poetic tribute to the beauty and ecological significance of birds.

Commending Prof. Riba’s literary work, Governor Parnaik described the book as a profound reflection on nature’s delicate balance, emphasizing the deep interconnection between birds and human life.

He highlighted how the collection not only celebrates avian beauty but also raises awareness about the need to protect these vital creatures.

The governor expressed hope that the book would inspire readers to cherish and safeguard birds, while also suggesting its translation into local languages to promote indigenous dialects and cultural heritage.

Prof. Riba, speaking at the event, shared that his book comprises 100 narrative poems, offering insights into the behaviors and roles of various bird species.

He underscored the critical role of birds in agriculture, environmental balance, and seasonal changes, while also raising concerns over threats such as habitat destruction, pollution, and hunting.

“As a result of these challenges, many birds are being forced to abandon their natural habitats, moving to unfamiliar and often hostile environments,” Prof. Riba stated, urging collective action to *preserve avian biodiversity.

The event was attended by Education Commissioner Amjad Tak and Secretary to the Governor, Sharad Bhaskar Darade, among other dignitaries.
