Assam: NTPC Bongaigaon Signs Agreement to Develop Infrastructure in Kokrajhar Jail

Kokrajhar: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Bongaigaon has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with local authorities to improve infrastructure facilities at Kokrajhar district jail under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The agreement, signed on Friday, involves NTPC Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar district administration, and the Public Works Department (PWD) Kokrajhar and Chirang District Territorial Division. The initiative focuses on constructing a modern kitchen and a multi-purpose hall within the jail premises to improve inmate welfare and rehabilitation.

NTPC Bongaigaon has committed Rs 32.82 lakh towards the project, which will be completed within 16 months. The kitchen will ensure hygienic food preparation and meal distribution, while the multi-purpose hall will facilitate skill development programs, vocational training, and other rehabilitation activities.

The MoA was signed by Onkar Nath, AGM (HR) NTPC, Ajit Kumar Narzary, Executive Engineer PWD-Kokrajhar and Chirang District Territorial Division, and Kabita Deka, Additional District Commissioner of Kokrajhar. The agreement was formally exchanged between Masanda M Pertin, Kokrajhar District Commissioner, and Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon.

The initiative aligns with NTPC’s commitment to community development and aims to create a positive impact on inmate welfare and rehabilitation efforts in the district.
