Mizoram Governor Confers Unit Citation to Assam Rifles Battalions for Exemplary Service
Aizawl– Mizoram Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.) honored the 2 Assam Rifles Battalion and 42 Assam Rifles Battalion with the Governor’s Unit Citation in recognition of their outstanding service during an investiture ceremony held at Raj Bhavan’s Circular Lawn in Aizawl.
Addressing the gathering of officers, ranks, and families, the Governor commended the battalions for their unwavering commitment to duty and their crucial role in maintaining security and stability in the region. He lauded their efforts in upholding the Assam Rifles’ motto—”Sentinels of the Northeast”—and emphasized their exemplary conduct during the ongoing crises along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Governor Singh acknowledged the battalions’ swift operational execution and their critical role in preserving law and order across the state. He particularly praised their humanitarian efforts in assisting internally displaced people, reflecting the Assam Rifles’ dedication to both security and community welfare.
The prestigious event saw the presence of Brigadier Girish Upadhya of HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles, along with other dignitaries, officers, and family members of the Assam Rifles.
The Governor’s Unit Citation serves as a testament to the unwavering spirit and commitment of the Assam Rifles in safeguarding Mizoram and the broader Northeast region.
