Assam: Drug Peddler and Timber Thief Arrested in Separate Raids Across Guwahati
Guwahati: In a major crackdown on illegal activities, Paltanbazar Police Station conducted a raid at B. Baruah Flyover, leading to the arrest of 23-year-old drug peddler Md. Jeherul Islam.
The accused, originally from Pahar Katuli, Baghbor, Barpeta, was residing in Fancybazar, Panbazar, Kamrup (M) at the time of his arrest.
During the search, 18 vials of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 25 grams, were recovered from his possession.
Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation to uncover further links in the drug network.
Meanwhile, in another operation, Chandmari Police Station nabbed Pabin Das (24) of Bhaskarnagar after he was caught red-handed with six stolen teak logs, each measuring 7 feet.
The stolen timber was reported missing from a warehouse near Gandhibasti, and Das was taken into custody for further interrogation.
These back-to-back arrests reinforce the police’s commitment to cracking down on illegal drug trade and timber smuggling, ensuring tighter security across Guwahati.
