Rallies and demonstrations banned in Guwahati

Guwahati: Guwahati residents face a new restriction as authorities have indefinitely banned all rallies and processions within the city limits. The police order, issued under Section 163 of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure, aims to address traffic disruptions and congestion caused by frequent public gatherings.

DCP Imdad Ali issued the directive, effective immediately. The order emphasizes that any violation of the ban will result in penalties under Section 233 of the relevant legislation.

This measure comes in response to growing concerns about the significant traffic congestion and public inconvenience caused by numerous rallies and processions held on various routes throughout Guwahati.
