Tripura Man Walks into Police Station, Confesses to Killing Wife After Domestic Dispute

Agartala, Tripura – In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old man in Tripura walked into a police station on February 12 and confessed to killing his wife after a heated argument at their home.

The accused, identified as Shyamal Das, allegedly murdered his wife, Swapna Das, and spent several hours with her body before reporting the crime.

According to police sources, the gruesome incident took place in the Amtali police station area of West Tripura district.

Sub-Inspector Shyamal Paul confirmed that the couple had an altercation over family issues on Monday night, which escalated violently. In a fit of rage, Shyamal struck Swapna with a blunt object, killing her on the spot.

Rather than seeking help or fleeing, the accused remained inside the house with his wife’s lifeless body throughout the night.

The next afternoon, at approximately 1:20 PM, he walked into the police station and calmly informed officers that his wife was lying in a pool of blood at their residence.

A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they recovered Swapna’s body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

Shyamal Das was taken into custody, and an investigation has been launched to determine further details surrounding the crime.

Authorities are now gathering statements from neighbors and family members to understand the events leading up to the fatal altercation. The incident has left the local community in shock, with many struggling to comprehend the brutal act.
