Supreme Court Denies Indrani Mukerjea’s Plea for Foreign Travel, Directs Speedy Trial

New Delhi – The Supreme Court on Wednesday, February 12, rejected the plea of former media executive Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, seeking permission to travel abroad. The apex court, while refusing her request, also directed the trial court to expedite proceedings and ensure the case reaches a conclusion at the earliest.

Mukerjea, who has been out on bail since May 2022, had approached the court seeking international travel clearance. However, the Supreme Court remained firm on prioritizing the swift completion of the long-running trial, which has remained in the public eye due to its high-profile nature.

The Sheena Bora murder case, which came to light in 2015, involves the alleged killing of Bora in 2012, a crime that shocked the nation with its sensational details and prominent figures. Mukerjea, accused of orchestrating the murder of her daughter, continues to face legal scrutiny as the case nears its final stages.
