Mizoram Governor Reviews Centrally Sponsored Schemes with Key Departments
Aizawl – Mizoram Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) chaired a high-level review meeting on Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) at Raj Bhavan, focusing on implementation progress and challenges faced by four key departments: Rural Development, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, and Fisheries.
In his opening remarks, Governor Singh highlighted the significance of developmental initiatives and stressed the need for a comprehensive assessment of both progress and challenges in executing CSS across Mizoram. He assured that the meeting was aimed at strengthening Central support to ensure smooth implementation and effective utilization of resources.
Commending the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Mizoram for their contributions to rural development, the Governor encouraged innovation and sustainable practices in the agricultural sector. He emphasized the need to boost organic farming, improve livestock healthcare, and enhance fish production, which would directly benefit local farmers and rural communities.
Officials from the four departments presented detailed progress reports through PowerPoint presentations, outlining achievements, ongoing projects, and challenges. They discussed the difficulties in executing government schemes and sought support for better implementation strategies.

The discussions focused on ensuring that CSS initiatives effectively contribute to Mizoram’s rural and agricultural growth, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and strengthening the state’s self-sufficiency in food production.
