Five Arrested in Manipur Over Viral Video Showing Armed Men at Football Match

Imphal: The Manipur Police have arrested five individuals in connection with a viral video showing a group of 10 to 15 miscreants dressed in camouflage attire and football kits, wielding sophisticated firearms at the K. Gamnomphai Village Ground in Kangpokpi district.

The incident occurred during an ongoing football match in K. Gamnomphai Village, Saitu Sub-Division, under G Saparmeina Police Station.

Acting on specific intelligence, police made the arrests on February 12. The accused have been identified as Mangtinlen Kipgen (26), Mangtinlen Kipgen (24), Seithenmang Kipgen (28), Lunminsei Kipgen (21), and Lunkhogin Kipgen (24).

The video, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms like YouTube, WhatsApp, and Facebook, shows individuals dressed in football kits and military fatigues holding firearms.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the matter, with further developments expected as the probe continues. The presence of armed men in a public event has raised serious concerns about security and law enforcement in the region.
