Shillong Lajong FC Crushes Ryntih FC 10-0, Mawlai SC Destroys Nongrim Hills 8-1 in Goal-Filled OC Blue Shillong Premier League
Shillong: Shillong Lajong FC delivered a devastating performance in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024, thrashing Ryntih FC 10-0 at the SSA Stadium, Polo. The day’s goal spree continued as Mawlai SC dominated Nongrim Hills SC with an 8-1 victory in the second fixture.
Deibormame Tongper was unstoppable, netting seven goals (8’, 22’, 24’, 29’, 46’, 53’, 57’) to complete a hat-trick in each half, cementing his status as the league’s top scorer with 17 goals—five ahead of Rangdajied United’s Owanijuh Pajuh. Riborlang L Lyngkhoi (36’, 61’) and Yohaan Benjamin (51’) added to Ryntih’s misery as Shillong Lajong wrapped up the game within an hour. Coach Bobby L Nongbet then made wholesale substitutions, allowing his bench players to gain match time.
Ryntih had earlier suffered a 10-1 defeat to Mawlai SC, and this latest humiliation underscored their defensive vulnerabilities, as SLFC dominated from start to finish.
The second match saw Mawlai SC continue their dominance at the top of the table with an emphatic 8-1 rout of Nongrim Hills SC. Baiaikara joined the season’s elite hat-trick club, scoring in the 39th, 59th, and 60th minutes. His teammates Damanbhalang Chyne (9’), Khrawkupar Jana (21’), Donlad Diengdoh (70’ P), and Samlang Rympei (89’) also found the net, alongside a 64th-minute own goal. Nongrim Hills managed a lone goal from Banshemphang Kurbah (49’), capitalizing on a rebound after a long-range shot by Oresterwell Langshiang hit the woodwork.
Despite a determined start to the second half, Nongrim Hills collapsed under relentless pressure. Once Baiaikara scored his second, mistakes crept into their game, allowing Mawlai SC to tighten their grip on the league standings.
With today’s results, Mawlai SC retains the top spot with 35 points, while Shillong Lajong FC reclaims second place from Rangdajied United FC. Both Lajong and Rangdajied are tied at 32 points, but Lajong holds the advantage on head-to-head results, goal difference, and an extra game in hand.
The league action continues today, with Rangdajied United facing Laitkor SC at 11 AM, followed by Langsning FC taking on Sawmer SC at 3 PM.
