Mizoram Legislative Assembly’s 30-Day Budget Session to Commence
Aizawl: The 30-day budget session of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly is set to begin on February 19, Wednesday.
Governor Vijay Kumar Singh will address the assembly on the first day, marking his maiden speech.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the state’s annual budget for the financial year 2025-2026 on March 4.
This will be the fourth session of the current 9th assembly since the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) assumed power in December 2023.
Three significant Bills are slated to be tabled during the session, including one that aims to establish a state university.
Another crucial Bill seeks to permit private placement agencies to facilitate the employment of Mizoram’s youth in foreign countries.
A total of 819 starred questions and 96 unstarred questions have been received by the assembly, awaiting answers from the respective ministers.
The budget session is scheduled to conclude on March 20.
