Guwahati: A massive fire broke out at Krishna Food Product factory, a soyabean processing unit in Panikhaiti, on the outskirts of Guwahati, late Tuesday night, causing extensive damage to the facility.
Flames spread rapidly across the premises, prompting an emergency response. Two fire tenders were rushed to the scene and, after sustained efforts, successfully brought the blaze under control. No casualties have been reported so far.
Preliminary investigations indicate that an electrical short circuit could have triggered the fire, though officials are yet to complete a detailed assessment. Authorities are now evaluating the financial losses, which are expected to be substantial.
The incident has raised concerns over fire safety measures in industrial units, and officials may initiate further inspections to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
