Meghalaya Government Designates Seven Counting Centres for KHADC Election

Shillong: The Meghalaya government has officially designated seven counting centres for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) election, which will cover 29 constituencies spread across multiple districts.

The Inter State Bus Terminus at Mawiong will serve as the primary counting hub, handling votes for 13 constituencies, including major areas like Mylliem, Mawlai, and Laitumkhrah-Malki. In addition, the NSCA Indoor Stadium in Nongpoh will manage vote counting for all five Ri-Bhoi district constituencies.

Electoral officials will carry out counting operations at various administrative offices: The Sub-Divisional Officer’s office in Pynursla will handle the Lyngkyrdem-Laitkroh and Nongskhen constituencies, while the Sohra SDO office will oversee counting for the Sohra and Shella constituencies.

In the western parts of the region, the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mairang will process results for Mairang-Nongkhlaw and Pariong-Mawthadraishan constituencies. The DC’s office in Mawkyrwat will manage counting for Mawkyrwat and Langrin constituencies, while the Nongstoin DC office will handle results for three constituencies – Nongstoin, Rambrai-Jyrngam, and Mawshynrut.

This strategic distribution of counting centres ensures systematic vote counting across the Khasi Hills region, as announced by the District Council Affairs Department.
