Mising Community Celebrates Ali Aye Ligang with Joyous Festivities in Assam
Assam: The Mising community of Assam marked the celebration of their agriculture-based festival, Ali Aye Ligang, with great fervor on February 19.
The occasion was observed with vibrant cultural performances and traditional rituals, with Sivasagar emerging as the hub of the celebrations.
In Kankanal Nagar, near Sivasagar town, members of the community gathered at the Murong Ghar courtyard early in the morning to commence the festivities.
The celebrations began with auspicious rituals, followed by Oinitom (folk songs) and the traditional Gumrag dance, filling the air with joy and energy.
The festival brought together Mising people from Sivasagar and its surrounding rural areas, as they united to celebrate their rich cultural heritage and agricultural traditions. The event stood as a reminder of the community’s strong bond with agriculture and their commitment to preserving their indigenous customs.
