Guwahati: In a major breakthrough in the murder case of Jahangir Hussain from Folimari Part-II, forensic analysis has officially confirmed that the severed head recovered from beneath the Shingia bridge in Dhakuakhana on December 1, 2024, belongs to the victim.
The confirmation was conveyed to Jahangir’s younger brother, Jahidur Rahman, by the CID over a phone call, putting an end to months of uncertainty surrounding his disappearance.
Jahangir was brutally murdered on June 1, 2024, in what investigators suspect was a premeditated crime. However, nearly nine months later, the prime suspect, Sunil Gogoi, remains at large, evading arrest despite sustained efforts by law enforcement.
The inability to capture Gogoi has fueled growing frustration among locals and family members, who continue to demand justice.
The gruesome nature of the case has sparked widespread outrage in the region, with activists and residents urging authorities to intensify their search efforts.
With forensic confirmation now adding weight to the investigation, Jahangir’s family has renewed their plea for justice, calling on police to expedite Gogoi’s arrest and ensure swift legal action.
Meanwhile, forensic experts are continuing their analysis, hoping to uncover additional evidence that could aid in resolving the case.
The victim’s family has also appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the suspect’s capture, as pressure mounts on law enforcement to bring the perpetrator to justice.
