Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam today, February 21, as part of the ongoing Maha Kumbh. Sarma took to his official X handle to announce his participation in the sacred event, expressing his reverence for the confluence of the holy rivers—Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

Sharing his spiritual journey with his followers, Sarma wrote, “Har Har Mahadev 🕉️ Today, I am going to participate in the historic Maha Kumbh. By bathing at the Triveni Sangam, I seek the blessings of Mother Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati 🙏.” His post reflects the deep cultural and religious significance of the Maha Kumbh, which is regarded as the world’s largest spiritual gathering.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Information Department, over 3.09 million devotees took the holy dip by 8 AM on Wednesday, pushing the total count of pilgrims past 555.6 million since the commencement of the event on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025). The grand religious congregation will continue until its conclusion on February 26.

Several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, and various Union Ministers, have already taken part in the sacred ritual at the Triveni Sangam. Sarma’s participation further underscores the Maha Kumbh’s significance as a confluence of spirituality, tradition, and cultural unity.
