Manipur Security Forces Recover Large Arms Cache in Multi-District Operations

Imphal, Manipur – A series of coordinated operations launched by security personnel across Manipur on February 20th has resulted in the recovery of a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition.

The operations, conducted in various districts, yielded a diverse array of weapons and explosives. In Sugnu-PS, Kakching district, searches in Singtom village and surrounding areas uncovered an SLR, a single barrel gun, a locally made pipe bomb launcher, hand grenades, communication devices, tear gas shells, cartridges, live ammunition, IEDs, and assorted military gear.

A separate operation in Imphal West district’s Mayang Imphal Bengoon Yangbi Sagaisabi led to the seizure of a modified sniper rifle, pistols, a single barrel gun, various types of ammunition, grenades, smoke shells, a wireless set, and a Myanmar-origin rifle.

Security forces in Jiribam’s Leisabithol area recovered pipe bombs, an AK-47 rifle, a local pistol, a bolt action rifle, grenades, a mine, locally made bombs, and assorted ammunition.

Finally, operations in Imphal East district’s Bumpa Khullen under Thoubal Dam resulted in the seizure of an AK 56 rifle magazine and bayonets, an INSAS rifle with magazines, a sniper rifle, various rifles, live ammunition, cartridges, grenades, stun shells, TNT, wireless sets, combat uniforms, and tactical gear.
