Assam Police Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Infiltration, Deports Four Bangladeshi Nationals
Guwahati: In a decisive move to curb illegal infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border, Assam Police successfully apprehended and deported four Bangladeshi nationals amid heightened security surveillance. The latest operation saw the arrest of Akbar Ali and Hamna alias Md. Apon, who were intercepted during intensified border patrolling efforts.
Earlier, two more individuals, Riyaz Mulla and Shaqib Mondal, were detained and subsequently deported following routine security checks along the international border. The swift action underscores the state’s commitment to reinforcing border security and preventing unauthorized crossings.
Confirming the deportations, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police force for their vigilance, emphasizing the government’s firm stance against illegal immigration. The state’s 263-kilometre-long border with Bangladesh remains a critical focal point for immigration control, necessitating sustained security measures to ensure regional stability.
