Assam Youth Congress President Zubair Anam Placed Under House Arrest

Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Youth Congress President Zubair Anam was taken into preventive custody and placed under house arrest by the police earlier today.

This move came just as Anam was about to participate in a protest organised by the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress Committee.

Anam, a prominent figure in the state’s youth politics, has been a vocal critic of the government.

The police action triggered a wave of intense protests in Panjabari, where Youth Congress workers staged a massive demonstration.

Agitated party members blocked the road from Six Mile to Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, bringing traffic to a grinding halt. The protestors vehemently condemned Anam’s house arrest and demanded his immediate release.

As tensions escalated, clashes broke out between the protestors and the police on the streets, further intensifying the situation. The Youth Congress has accused the government of using force to suppress democratic dissent.
