Kohima: The Department of Health & Family Welfare in Nagaland has introduced the Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme to enhance healthcare access for individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and multiple disabilities.
Launched under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the scheme is administered by the National Trust to ensure better medical support and financial assistance for eligible beneficiaries.
The Niramaya scheme offers comprehensive annual coverage of up to ₹1 lakh, encompassing expenses related to hospitalization, therapy, corrective surgeries, and alternative treatments. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on families while improving healthcare outcomes for individuals with disabilities.
To avail of the benefits, applicants must first enroll with the National Trust. Required documents include a disability certificate along with a Unique Disability ID (UDID) card or enrollment number, a PWD certificate, address proof, an income certificate for Above Poverty Line applicants, and proof of payment of the enrollment fee. The registration process must be facilitated through a Registered Organization (RO) affiliated with the National Trust.
In Nagaland, the designated ROs responsible for processing applications under the Niramaya scheme include Care and Support Society, Cherry Blossoms Society, and Jo Foundation. The government urges eligible individuals and their families to take advantage of this initiative to secure essential healthcare services.
