Guwahati Traffic Police Announces Traffic Restrictions for Major Events on Feb 24-26
Guwahati Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive set of vehicular movement regulations ahead of two major events—‘Jhumoir Binandini’ and ‘Advantage Assam 2.0’—scheduled to take place on February 24, 25, and 26, 2025. The restrictions are designed to ensure smooth traffic flow, public convenience, and the uninterrupted movement of emergency services.
The guidelines outline specific entry routes for spectators, delegates, and essential service vehicles at Sarusajai Sports Complex and Khanapara Veterinary Field, while also restricting commercial vehicle movement across key city routes.
For the Jhumoir Binandini event at Sarusajai Sports Complex, vehicles holding GOLD and DROP-OFF passes will be directed through Gate No. 1B, while essential service vehicles (GREEN pass holders) will also use this entry. Pedestrian entry for invitation/card holders will be allowed through Gate No. 1C. Additionally, the stretch from Koinadhara to Jalukbari will be a no-escort/pilot vehicle zone.
For the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit at Khanapara Veterinary Field, delegates with SAFFRON and GOLD passes will enter through designated gates, while vehicles for liaison officers and other attendees will have separate parking zones. The post-WIP departure phase will allow the use of Gate No. 10 (opposite Koinadhara Hill), while escort and pilot vehicles will have designated parking along the Jayanagar to Tripura Gali stretch.
To further ease congestion, commercial vehicle restrictions will be enforced in Guwahati:
• February 24:
• 7:00 AM – 11:30 PM: No commercial goods vehicles (four-wheelers and above) on NH-27 and NH-17.
• 9:00 AM – 11:30 PM: No three-wheeler commercial vehicles on roads such as A.K. Azad Road, VIP Road, and GS Road (Ulubari to Khanapara).
• February 25-26:
• 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM: Restrictions on NH-27, NH-17, and major routes including Zoo Road, Panjabari Road, and VIP Road.
Guwahati Traffic Police has urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with authorities to facilitate the smooth execution of these high-profile events.
