CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Highlights Assam’s Transformation at Advantage Assam 2.0

Guwahati: At the ongoing Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 25 lauded the state’s remarkable progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing industry leaders and dignitaries, he reflected on the inception of the initiative, recalling that the first edition of Advantage Assam was launched on February 3 and 4, 2018, with the Prime Minister’s vision for economic growth in the Northeast.

A major highlight of his address was the announcement of a Green Field Fertilizer Plant for Assam, sanctioned in the Union Budget. With an estimated production capacity of 12 lakh metric tonnes, the plant is expected to significantly boost the state’s industrial and agricultural landscape, reinforcing Assam’s position as a key player in India’s economic expansion.

Beyond economic growth, CM Sarma emphasized the socio-political transformation Assam has undergone over the past decade. He credited PM Modi’s governance for ushering in peace and stability in a region once known for insurgency and turmoil. “After 2014, Assam experienced a rebirth. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Assam, once the most disturbed state in the country, has now become the most peaceful,” he stated.

The Chief Minister’s speech reinforced Assam’s evolving role as an investment destination, with Advantage Assam 2.0 serving as a catalyst for attracting business and strengthening its path to sustainable development.
