MEA Steps In to Help Indian Student’s Father Travel to US After Accident

International: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stepped in to assist the family of Neelam Shinde, an Indian student from Maharashtra’s Satara district, who was hospitalized in the United States following an accident.

Indian officials are working with US authorities to fast-track the visa process for her father, Tanaji Shinde, so he can be by her side, sources confirmed.

The case gained urgency after NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Supriya Sule appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the Indian Embassy in the US, seeking immediate assistance. Sule raised the issue on social media, tagging key officials, including the MEA’s grievance redressal platform and the Indian Embassy in Washington, urging them to facilitate an emergency visa for Tanaji Shinde.

Responding swiftly, the MEA initiated discussions with their US counterparts to expedite the required formalities. While an official timeline has not been disclosed, efforts are underway to ensure that Neelam’s father can travel to the US at the earliest. The intervention highlights the government’s proactive approach in assisting Indian citizens facing emergencies abroad.
