Assam: Akhil Gogoi claims 6,000 Students Missed HSLC Exams due to Jhumoir event
Guwahati: Raijor Dal leader and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi has criticized the Assam government alleging that 6,000 students missed their Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams due to participating in the ‘Jhumoir Binondini’ event.
Gogoi termed this a “big loss” for the students, who will now have to repeat a year.
Gogoi speaking to the media said that while it was important to promote the Adivasi community’s cultural events, organizing such events during exam periods was unacceptable.
He demanded a public statement from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and urged student organizations to investigate the matter.
Gogoi also appealed to the CM and Education Minister Ranoj Pegu to consider holding a special HSLC examination for the affected students. He warned that if the government’s intentions were merely to garner votes from the Adivasi community, it would not be tolerated.
