Meghalaya Government Invites Design Proposals for New Secretariat in New Shillong
Shillong: The Meghalaya government has initiated a competitive selection process for the design of the new Secretariat in New Shillong, inviting national and international design firms to submit tenders.
Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, confirmed that while no formal design competition was held, a structured evaluation process is in place to select the most suitable proposal.
A committee led by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has been formed to review and finalize the design, ensuring that it meets the state’s administrative and functional requirements. The new Secretariat is envisioned as a key component of the government’s broader plan to modernize Shillong’s infrastructure.
With the project expected to reshape the administrative landscape, the government is focused on selecting a design that reflects both efficiency and sustainability, reinforcing Meghalaya’s commitment to infrastructural progress.
