Sikkim Badminton Association Announces New Leadership Following Landmark Election

Gangtok: Gangtok witnessed a pivotal moment for state badminton as the Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS) successfully concluded its elections on March 9th.

The Paljor Stadium Complex served as the venue for this democratic process, which determined the association’s Office Bearers and Executive Body Members for the upcoming 2025-2029 term.

The election garnered significant engagement, with 58 members casting their votes. This included representatives from nine district-affiliated clubs and associations, demonstrating a widespread interest in the future direction of badminton within the state. The newly elected committee has articulated a clear vision, emphasizing a commitment to the advancement of the sport. Their agenda includes substantial improvements to existing infrastructure, the implementation of enhanced training programs, and the creation of more extensive competitive opportunities for players across all skill levels.

This election follows the successful culmination of the 3rd Singtam Open Badminton Tournament 2025, an event that held particular significance as it coincided with the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood. The tournament, held earlier in the month, drew a considerable number of skilled players and enthusiastic spectators from various regions. It served as a vibrant celebration of competitive spirit and fostered a sense of camaraderie amongst the participating athletes.
