Sikkim: Gorkha Vidhyarthi Sangh Inaugurates New Executive Body at Banaras Hindu University

Gangtok: The academic landscape at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has witnessed the official formation of a revamped executive body for the Gorkha Vidhyarthi Sangh (GVS). This newly structured association is poised to serve as a cornerstone of support and empowerment for Gorkhali students pursuing higher education within the esteemed institution’s walls.

During an inaugural meeting held on the BHU campus, student representatives and esteemed faculty members convened to delineate the core objectives of the GVS. The agenda centered on providing comprehensive academic guidance, fostering enriching cultural exchange, and establishing a robust support system tailored to the unique needs of Gorkhali students at BHU. The organization’s mission is to create a dynamic platform where students can freely share knowledge, extend mutual support, and collectively enhance their personal and academic trajectories. To achieve these goals, GVS has outlined plans to host a series of workshops, career counseling sessions, and vibrant cultural programs that celebrate the rich heritage of the Gorkhali community.

The newly appointed executive committee, comprising students from diverse academic disciplines, has committed to strengthening student welfare and cultivating a collaborative relationship between the university administration and Gorkhali students. Future initiatives include launching scholarship awareness campaigns, organizing valuable networking events, and forging partnerships with other student organizations on campus. The executive body consists of: President, Samir Tamang; Vice President, Richa Chettri; General Secretary, Arbin Bhujel; Treasurer, Sadiksha Chettri; Chief Coordinator, Prabin Dahal; Advisor, Ayush Limboo; Cultural Secretary, Anisha Sharma; Media Coordinator, Birmith Lepcha; and Organizational Secretary, Kumar Pradhan.

The GVS has extended an open invitation to all Gorkhali students at BHU, encouraging them to actively participate in the organization’s programs and contribute to fostering a more inclusive and supportive academic environment for all.
