Assam Police Intercept and Repatriate Four Bangladeshi Nationals

Guwahati: In a decisive move against illegal immigration, Assam law enforcement has apprehended and subsequently deported four Bangladeshi infiltrators, as confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma via his official X account.

The individuals, identified as Abdul Kabir, Bodhiur Rahman, Md Tayub, and Abdul Kalam, were detained in connection with ongoing efforts to secure the state’s borders.

The Chief Minister, in his X post, commended the Assam Police for their successful operation, stating, “4 illegal infiltrators held and deported… Continuing with their efforts to combat infiltration, @assampolice apprehended 4 Bangladeshi nationals and pushed them back across the border. Great work team!” This action underscores the state government’s unwavering commitment to curbing unlawful entry into Assam.

This recent deportation is part of a broader initiative, with Chief Minister Sarma having previously reported the apprehension and repatriation of 305 Bangladeshi infiltrators within the past seven months. He has repeatedly emphasized the state’s dedication to achieving an “infiltration-free Assam.”

In response to regional instability, the Border Security Force (BSF) has escalated its surveillance activities along the extensive 1,885-kilometer India-Bangladesh border in the Northeast since unrest began in Bangladesh last year. Simultaneously, Assam Police have implemented heightened vigilance along the border, reinforcing measures to prevent unauthorized entry into the state, according to official sources.
